Tsum Tsum Intl Player Level & EXP Explained

How player level and EXP work on the International app, how it differs from skill level and Tsum level, and which numbers are still unconfirmed.

The star in the top-left corner of your screen is your player level. It goes up on its own as you play, and new players often mix it up with the two other "levels" in the game. This guide covers how player level and EXP work on the International app, how they differ from skill level and Tsum level, and what you actually get for leveling up.

Sources are the Disney Tsum Tsum Fandom wiki and Tsum Tsum Central. Tsum Tsum Central's guide is old (its news section stops in 2018), so we only call something confirmed when both say the same thing. Numbers that only one of them gives are marked unconfirmed.

Short version:

  • Player level goes up with EXP, and you earn EXP every game you play (both sources)
  • Star bubbles give +10 EXP, and the +Exp item adds 10% (both sources)
  • Player level is not skill level. Skill level goes up when you pull duplicates from boxes. Tsum level goes up when you clear that Tsum in a game (both sources)
  • How much EXP each score gives, the Rubies you get per level, and the score bonus from player level are Fandom-only numbers, so unconfirmed

Three different "levels"

What it is How it goes up Confirmed?
Player level (Experience Level) Your account's level. The star with a progress bar, top-left EXP from every game Yes, both sources
Skill level How strong one Tsum's skill is Pull duplicates of that Tsum from boxes. Happiness Tsums max out at 3, Premium Tsums at 6 Yes, both sources
Tsum level One Tsum's own level Clear that Tsum in a game, as your MyTsum or as one of the other Tsums on the board Yes, both sources

The one that matters most for coins and scores is skill level. How many copies each Tsum needs is in our Intl Skill Upgrade Chart.

Tsum level gives that Tsum more points when you clear it (both sources). Every Tsum starts with a level cap of 5, and you spend coins to raise the cap (both sources). The costs mostly match:

Cap Coins to raise it (Fandom) Coins to raise it (Tsum Tsum Central)
5 2,000 2,000
10 2,000 3,000
15 4,000 4,000
20 6,000 6,000
25 8,000 8,000
30–45 10,000 each 10,000 each

The cap-10 cost doesn't match (2,000 vs 3,000), so treat that one as unconfirmed and check it in the game.

Where EXP comes from

Source of EXP Amount Confirmed?
Playing a game You earn EXP as you clear Tsums, every game Yes, both sources
Higher scores Give more EXP (see the chart below) Unconfirmed (Fandom only)
Star bubble +10 EXP Yes, both sources
+Exp item +10% EXP for that game Yes, both sources
Base EXP for starting a game 100 EXP Unconfirmed (Fandom only)

Fandom also has a chart of how much EXP each score gives. Tsum Tsum Central doesn't have one, so these are Fandom's figures, unconfirmed:

Score EXP (Fandom) With +Exp (Fandom)
0 100 110
500,000 180 198
1,000,000 350 385
2,000,000 450 495
5,000,000 600 660
9,000,000 800 880

The full chart is on the Fandom page. It stops at 9 million points.

More about bubbles and the +Exp item is in our items, bubbles and Fever guide.

How much EXP to the next level?

The game doesn't show the exact number. You only see how full the star's bar is, and the EXP you earned on the score screen after each game. Fandom says:

  • From level 1 to 150, each level needs a bit more EXP than the last
  • From level 150 to 1,000, each level needs 60,000 EXP
  • Above level 1,000 it takes more

These are Fandom-only numbers, so unconfirmed.

What you get for leveling up

Reward What the source says Confirmed?
Rubies (sometimes other gifts) Sent to your Mail Box when you level up (Fandom) Unconfirmed (Fandom only)
Hearts refilled Leveling up refills your hearts to the max of 5. If you already have more than 5, you get none (Tsum Tsum Central) Unconfirmed (Tsum Tsum Central only, and it's an old page)
Score bonus A Level Bonus is added to your score at the end of each game. Fandom's table goes from 0% at level 1 to about 25% around level 150 and 32% at level 1,111–1,200 Unconfirmed (Fandom only)
Bingo unlocked Fandom: level 5 on the International app. Tsum Tsum Central: level 10 Conflict. Fandom is the more recent source, but check the game

Our take (opinion, not official)

  • You don't need to farm player level. It goes up as you play anyway. Spending coins on +Exp only makes sense if a mission asks for EXP
  • Spend your effort on skill level instead. One Tsum with a high skill level earns far more than a high player level does. Our first 30 days guide has a plan
  • Treat the numbers above as a rough guide. Check the in-game score screen and Mail Box for what you actually got

Fact check: confirmed vs. unconfirmed

  • Confirmed (both sources): EXP raises player level; you earn EXP every game; Star bubble +10 EXP; +Exp item +10%; skill level comes from duplicates (Happiness max 3, Premium max 6); Tsum level comes from clearing that Tsum, starts capped at 5 and coins raise the cap; cap costs at 5, 15, 20, 25 and 30–45
  • Unconfirmed (one source): 100 base EXP and the score-to-EXP chart; 60,000 EXP per level from 150 to 1,000; Rubies per level; hearts refill on level-up; Level Bonus percentages
  • Conflicting: cap-10 cost (2,000 vs 3,000 coins); Bingo unlock level (5 vs 10)
