What to Spend Medals On (Intl)

Intl medals: Premium Box + vs Item Store, medal farmers, and the cap.

Short version: on the International app, medals go to two places: the Premium Box + and the Item Store. Medals come in slowly, so the community's advice is to spend with a plan: buy a specific Item Store item you actually want, and save for a Premium Box + month that has something you're after. And don't sit at the cap, because once you hit it you stop collecting.

  • Confirmed (Fandom + Reddit): medals buy from the Premium Box + and the Item Store
  • Confirmed (Fandom + Reddit): the Premium Box + arrived on International in January 2026 (Fandom; Reddit threads from 1/15/2026 announce it with Mickey+)
  • Confirmed (Fandom + Reddit): playing Plus Tsums earns medals. That's the only way to farm them on purpose
  • Unconfirmed: the exact medal price of a Premium Box + draw and of Item Store items. Neither source gives a number we could match

Where your medals can go

Option What you get Status
Premium Box + A random Tsum from a box that mixes Plus Tsums, that month's new Tsums and some regular ones Box exists: Fandom + Reddit. Its mix: two Reddit threads (1qde9j8, 1uwm2cm)
Item Store Selected Tsums, backdrops, free heart days, Item Tickets and Level Tickets (Fandom's list) Store exists: Fandom + Reddit. The full item list is Fandom only

One player in the July thread says they "like buying the 5>4 tickets" with medals, which lines up with Fandom's "Item Tickets". What's in the store changes, so check yours before planning.

The medal price of either option isn't something we could confirm from two International sources. Players in the July thread talk in round numbers ("13k medals… one Rapunzel+", "15 premium boxes… 103k left"), but they don't state a per-draw price, so check the button in your game.

Premium Box + or Item Store?

The July 2026 thread is the best International discussion we found, and the advice there boils down to three ideas. These are player opinions, not rules:

  1. Medals are scarce. "We accumulate medals at a slower rate than coins," as one reply puts it. You can farm coins; you can't really farm medals
  2. Don't buy the moment you have enough. One player saves up and only opens the box in a month when it holds new Tsums they want, since those sit in the box alongside the Plus Tsums in their release month
  3. Plus Tsums aren't great yet. Several replies say current Plus Tsums aren't strong coin farmers or main Tsums. One even advised spending medals freely if you don't care about Plus Tsums

Our take: for most players, the Item Store is the safer spend because you know exactly what you're buying. A ticket you will use, or a Tsum you need copies of, is a sure thing. The Premium Box + is a lottery with commons in it ("I always get the Commons," as one reply says). Open it when the month's lineup has something you'd be happy to pull, or when you are close to the cap.

Which Plus Tsums farm medals?

These are single-player reports on International, with different skill levels and items. Read them as rough ranges, not benchmarks.

Plus Tsum Reported medals per game Setup mentioned
Rapunzel+ 250+ SL5, 5>4, Patch
Rapunzel+ 200–350 SL6, with items
Rapunzel+ / Lightning McQueen+ about 200, "can't break 210" not stated
Tiara Minnie+ about 100 (July) / about 200 with 5>4 (October) two posts by the same player
Ariel+ 100–130 SL2
Lady Tremaine+ 100 SL1, first game
Lightning McQueen+ about 50 SL2, played automatically

Rapunzel+ comes up the most, from three different players, so it's the safest bet among Tsums you can already get. For October's two new ones, one player says Lady Tremaine+ earns more medals than most Plus Tsums. We compared them in Cruella+ vs Lady Tremaine+.

The "wait for Woody+" debate

In the October ranking thread, one commenter named Woody+ among their top medal farmers. Another (JQHero) replied that Sora+ comes in November and Woody+ in December on International. JQHero said the same in July.

Fandom's International Tsums list currently has no Woody+ or Sora+. Its Plus Tsums run Mickey+ through Lady Tremaine+. So for International players, Woody+ isn't something you can pull today, and the November/December dates come from one player only (unconfirmed). If you're tempted to save medals for him, keep that in mind.

Don't sit at the medal cap

Fandom says you can hold about 500,000 medals. At the cap the game won't let you claim medals from the mailbox, ads or Plus Tsum plays. In the July thread, a player at 460k says they're spending "so I can keep collecting medals."

Our take: if you're above roughly 400k, spend some on whatever's best this month. Medals you can't collect are simply lost.

Where medals come from (daily missions, chests, events) is covered in our skill ticket sources guide. If you're new, start with the first 30 days.

A note on the "new player" thread

The October thread "As a new player, what should I put these medals towards?" is often linked for this topic. Its author is actually playing the Japanese version, and the replies mix JP and International. We didn't use its numbers here, only as background on the question itself.
